Covid-19 Vaccine

We’re excited to learn that our residents and staff will be among the first to be offered the new COVID-19 vaccine. Research indicates this will reduce the chances of getting the virus; and, once again allow families and friends to be reunited with their loved-ones.

Researchers, and the CDC, have shared that during the development of the vaccine, routine processes and procedures were in place. The same that ensure the safety of any vaccine authorized, or approved, for use by the FDA. COVID-19 vaccines have been through clinical trials and, per the CDC, have demonstrated to be safe and effective before being authorized or approved for use. The known and potential benefits of a COVID-19 vaccine must outweigh the known and potential risks of the vaccine in order to be approved for use under what is known as an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). This vaccine has met that criteria. For this reason we will assist our staff, and residents, in receiving the vaccine should they so choose.

Please remember, wearing masks, good hand washing hygiene and social distancing will still help reduce the chance of being exposed to the virus or spreading it to others. The benefits of these measures can be amplified by also receiving a vaccine. Vaccines are intended to work with your immune system so it will be ready to fight the virus if you are exposed. Per the CDC, stopping the pandemic requires using all the tools we have available.

A vaccine distribution schedule is being developed. Some facilities have already started receiving the vaccine. Please contact the facility to find out when the vaccine will be available to residents and staff.
